NEW YORK TIMES and USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR, ELLE CASEY, brings readers book 3, the final installment in the contemporary romance series LOVE IN NEW YORK.

Jana is left devastated after her brother starts his recovery and her niece is taken out of her care. At loose ends, she decides to purchase a fixer-upper in one of her favorite areas of Brooklyn, thinking the work will get her mind off her loss and the intense feelings of anger and disappointment she has toward the family attorney, Robinson. But she gets in over her head and needs someone who can not only fix her roof but someone who can fix her broken heart.

Mister Fixit Love in New York Book 3 eBook Elle Casey

What I love most about Elle Casey's writing is the way that she can have these wacky, genuine characters who do spontaneous things and have ridiculous dialogue that feels genuine for the character, and not contrived to get a laugh by the reader ... and that those same characters have a rich past that has darkness, but doesn't lead to simply being moody & broody. I found that perfect blend in "Lost and Found" the 1st book in this series.

There isn't as much joy to be found in "Mr. Fixit". Jana has spiraled into self-centered depression/rage because of events in the first 2 books (totally understandable based on the circumstances). We don't really get to see much of the "real" Jana because she is so mad her circumstances from the beginning of the book until the last few chapters. In book 1 she is overwhelmed with being thrust into motherhood. (Didn't read book 2 because I didn't want to read about an alcoholic dad) And in book 3 she is hating on everyone who loves her because she's feeling unappreciated. When she does give Rob a chance to explain himself (her one true love for the last 20 years), we discover that she really didn't know much about his childhood, or major events in his adulthood. It would have been nice to see more of what it was like with them together (outside of the great sex) just to witness how they related without secrets, and living together honestly -- seeing them joking around, enjoying each others company, and finding things they like to do together.

* Silly hangup that got me out of book: math regarding people's ages. James was 39 in first book. Robinson is his friend since they were freshman college roommates, so they should be the same age. Jana tells the 911 operator in the 3rd book that Robinson is 37. Jana has loved Robinson for 20 years, since she was 6 years old. If they met when he was 18 (maybe 19 depending on his birthday), he should be 38 or 39...Because Jana would always know how old Rob is.

Mister Fixit Love in New York Book 3 eBook Elle Casey Reviews

Started book 1 and just kept in going. Excellent books and very well written. Laughter and tears during all three. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE say there will be a 4th book for Val!!! Now off to see about more from Elle Casey!!!
I really didn't like Jana and had a hard time getting through this book because of the huge amount of bitterness and self pity she displays through most of the book. The writing is still good, but the Jana character and Leah's stereotypical pregnancy just doesn't work for me, but that's just my personal preference.
I recently heard that a well-written story contains at least one crisis. Well, Mr. Fixit fits that criteria right alongside a variety of highs and lows. More than one character experiences personal challenges and triumphs. Lots of joy, too. This is the third in a series I have enjoyed more than expected. Can hardly wait for number four!
Jana has loved Rob forever and thinks he doesn't reciprocate but he does. Jana seemed like she was very unforgiving and didn't think things through. The characters in the previous books were in this one as well and I just loved Leah. I wish the book would have said what her baby was and what they named it. It was a quick read but didn't enjoy it as much as the others but this book does give closure to the series.
I read all three of the "Love in New York" series during an especially rainy week end . The stories were engaging, but not repetitive. Characters were well drawn, and unique. The one fault I found was the speed of each relationship and marriages. Not bad enough to put me off the books, but disconcerting. Good read, will try more of your books.
Once you get used to the first person style of thoughts and spoken words of the main characters back and forth it is really fun. Both main characters Jana and Robinson have secretly crushed on each other for years as family friends with Rob being the bestie of Jana's decade older. Brother. They were both clueless to the mutual attraction. Making it a classic romance with a lot of heartfelt issues and depths. If you enjoy a good modern story with a happy ending you will love this series.
I read these 3 books one after the other in just a few days. There are a few things vs that set them apart from other books in this genre.

First- It does take itself very seriously. It is funny and light. It isn't pretentious or try to be more than it is- a light romantic comedy.

B- presents the characters at a reasonable age. I have read and enjoyed some of the more popular romance books of late. But one thing that really bothers me is the unrealistic age of the millionaire business moguls. I hate they make these guys 26 years old. It is possible suppose, but the truth is that most people that age are still learning. The men in this block are all successful, but they are 38, 39 years old. It is much more believable to have a successful plastic surgery center or law firm at those ages than in their late 20's.

#3- the sex is sexy but the author doesn't use the overly descriptive ridiculous language that often makes me cringe. I mean, most of these romance books should come with a sequel called UTI.

This series isn't perfect. Some of the ages and the timeline don't seem accurate all the time. I didn't really start to question it until this book.

It probably could have delved a little deeper into the characters, especially the Oliver fAmily itself. What happened to their parents, where did they get their money. How was their relationship before all this. In the first book they sounded closer and closer in age. Also, the development of Leah and Sarah. Did Leah go to college or something. Why did she move to NYC in the first place. It isn't a place you just move to work part time in an apothecary new age shop. She said she only worked there a few month and there is no explanation about her real professional skills or if she actually went to college.
