Lisa Deckert's "Trouble Aboard the Hawaiian Paradise" is a not to be missed book for all ages. Denali Hawthorne is from snowy Alaska but travels to Hawaii to take a sunny cruise with her aunt. Upon deplaning in Hawaii and waiting for her luggage, she witnesses a strange accident between 2 men and chocks it up to what she thought it was...and accident. When her aunt shows up and they aboard the Hawaiian Paradise she notices one of the men from the accident in the airport but again thinks nothing of it. While on board she also runs in to an old friend that is working the cruise. During doing her job her friend is accused of theft from one of the men from that accident. This sets Denali on a collusion course with these men when she tries to help her innocent friend. And her I stop as I do not want to give away too much of the story.This is a great book for all ages who loves a great mystery. Lisa Deckert also does an outstanding job of describing everything one would see in Hawaii and on a cruise. She did such an exceptional job that I now want to plan my very own cruise to Hawaii. Pick up your copy of this wonderful book, it does not disappoint!!!

This terrific mystery will appeal to all ages, as the fearless Denali Hawthorne uncovers a mystery that had this reader enthralled throughout the entire book. Denali reminds me of a young Tintin, and the author has given our protagonist a story worthy of the great Hergé.
Trouble Aboard The Hawaiian Paradise takes our endearing protagonist from her home in Alaska to Hawaii. Other reviews have rightly praised the book's excellent and intriguing plot, but I would like to draw attention to quality of the author's writing. Scene after scene, the author successfully conveys Hawaii through the eyes of a curious and intelligent sixteen year old girl with effortless grace.
I can't wait for the next Denali Hawthorne mystery!

Since I myself thoroughly enjoyed watching them unravel the mystery aboard their cruise ship, I know for a fact that my teen granddaughters will be thrilled when they read it. I received a wonderful introduction to the delights of both Hawaii and vacationing on a cruise ship. This book made me want to do both visit Hawaii and take a cruise. And it is a good mystery to boot, with little clues along the way that things are not quite right on the ship. It is a fast read, and a pleasurable journey from page one to the end. Read it. And then get your kids to do the same. You will have lots to talk about since this book is really a tasty feast, containing so many interesting conversational tidbits.
